I was talking to a friend today from work and while were discussing our lives and other office politics we both felt and agreed how much little time we spend working towards personal development. Our lives have gotten busy, work has become demanding and pressures from deadline and competing with people has just made things worse.
Between all of this have you ever stopped for a moment and thought about what you are doing for your personal growth? I agree that the more you work, the happier your boss is and that is directly proportional to your salary raise/bonus/promotion and other perks that you need but these are just monetary benefits. Trust me you can make money if you really wanted it so bad any time. That should be the least of your worries.
But not spending time focussing on your personal growth is like a mortal sin that one should never commit. Spend some time, may be few hours a week doing things that will make your soul happy. Something that you can cherish and continue doing even after you retire.
One of the things that people regret the most about life when they are in their deathbed is hoping they hadn’t worked so hard. Another common one is wishing they had let themselves be happier and lived their lives fulfilling their dreams instead of others expectations.
You do not want to be in the same place too, take time to make your soul happy. It’s never too late.
